A Sinn Féin Public Briefing to discuss the current political situation in the North of Ireland.

The arrogance of the DUP in recent months has precipitated a political crisis in the North.
The refusal of Arlene Foster, to step aside, as First Minister, to facilitate an investigation into the RHI scandal – led to Martin McGuinness taking decisive action – and resigning as the deputy First Minister in protest. Thereby removing Arlene Foster from Office.

The situation has now moved way beyond the RHI ‘Cash for Ash’ scandal. The equality, mutual respect and all-Ireland approaches enshrined within the Good Friday Agreement need to be reaffirmed and recognised by the DUP. They cannot continue to block equality for women, the LGBT community, ethnic minorities, the Irish language community and Irish identity.

Sinn Féin is clear that an Assembly Election is now needed to give the people their say. Suspension of the institutions is not an option. Imposition of Direct Rule is not an option.
A return to the status quo is not an option

The Evening will be an opportunity to hear first-hand analysis from Mr Doherty and Mr Maskey. All welcome.
